A70 front end on a GZ20 body?
|

Hey yall
due to the adundance of wrecked 70 series supras in perth atm, i was wondering how feasible this conversion would be. Interested in whacking on the front quarters, lights and front bar off a 70series supra onto my 20 series soarer,
can it be done without major modifications?

Hmmm, I've never seen this done before. I know that the reverse is called a Soapra, and they look pretty hot!
But yeah, here's a link to a Soapra buildup:
http://www.yasaka.info/ryo/car/
I know this isn't what you were asking, but it may provide you with a rough guess of how much work is needed.
Hope it helps a bit. I'd really like to see this project if it goes ahead. I'd say it'll be a one-of-a-kind here in Perth

There's a soarer aerocabin that was on here for sale, with an A70 supra front end on it...
Said it cost quite a bit to do the body panel conversion because custom quarter panels etc had to be made i think...

custom front guards = teh murder on wallet...
would look tuff, but big big dollars for the guards, once they are done, everthing else pretty much bolts right up

looks like this project is gonna have to wait. That Soapra looks stunning IMHO, supra front (hot) and soarer rear (2x better than old lookin supra rear) onto the same body.

Nah, they both sound ghey. I vote Suprer.
Side note: MR 1JZ, is that model code for your Celsior correct, I thought if it had a UZ the model code would have to start with UZ...

Yeah, new cars have wierd codes.
Celsiors are UCFxx
IS200's are GXExx or JCExx (for 1G and 1JZ respectively)
I'm sure there are more.

i wasnt questioning that...I was just merely suggesting that it "could" be a lexus thing...
what I was questioning is that a celsior is in fact a lexus and a lexus is in fact a toyota...
so it really doesnt matter at all

oh me oh my... love it..
I've seen a few pics before - not this one tho..
Sorry to drag up this thread again. But given the amount of work - what do you think people would pay for one already done? (especially if it looked like the one above).
Wonder if it would be worth my while
is there anyone on the forums that have already done it/attempted it?

I wouldn't expect much change from 5 grand if you paid a professional to do it.
Thats supplying all the panels too.
Just a guess though.

mate that looks hot! I love it.
the best part is, the badging is removed, leaving most people to think "WTF IS THAT?"
at least up here on the coast, you'd be surprised how many people dont even know what an old school soarer is (they look at it and have no idea)
let alone a soarer/supra hybrid!

Cheers mate - It's certainly different. I got it first and foremost for the mechanicals but the visuals makes it interesting as well.
Conversion was originally done in Japan as a track/drift car. Car was cut in half in Japan and imported for parts then all the gear except the fixed glass was transferred across to an Aussie delivered shell and given a new lick of paint. Original Bomex front bar didn't make the trip very well after a few forklift lifts/drops so I fitted the OEM bar pictured.
