Hi all,

My car runs very smooth, but after a cruise i find a bit of oil under the intercooler pipe (cool side) just before it connects back to the main engine pipe. The oil does not leak, its more of a wet oil stain.

Does anyone know what could be the possible cause for this?

cheers
Ash

my 1G-GTE does that also....I'm not worried because I don't see any white smoke during extendend idling nor hard acceleration.

It is common to develop a oil build up inside intercoolers and I'd say this is just leaking out a little.

Flush your intercooler with some kind of thinners to clean this out.

Water in your oil.... Sign of something bad, like a blown head gasket...

if it smokes(white) under boost, then the turbos need rebuilding..the oil seals are probably worn...good excuse to do a single turbo conversion Laughing

Where is the breather hose/s from the cam covers go to? Is it connected to the intake pipe before the turbos?

If so, your problem is most likely blow by oil pumping through your intake tract. This is not a huge concern if you still have good compression in all cylinders, some blow by is acceptable, especially with turbo cars. Or of course, as has been mentioned, your turbo's could be stuffed. Crying or Very Sad but they were in really good condition when you bought them this year weren't they?

A fix for the blow-by would be to fit a 'catch can' to the breather pipe/s. This will collect any oil mist rather than cycle it back through your engine.

Cheers
Phil
