Hi All,
Just a quick question about this part, when replacing it, do I have to compress the pin back into the tensioner at all to get clearance, or will it just pop back in. If anyone has replaced these on a 3s let me know whats the best way to do it.
Many thanks

You need to compress the tensioner in a vice then use a 1.25mm allen key to put through the hole drilled in the tensioner body and the tensioner rod. Once you have the tensioner located correctly and bolted up to the engine you can then remove the allen key from the hole and the tensioner will operate as normal.
If you are able to push the rod in without a hell of a lot of effort, like using your body weight to push it against a concrete floor, then you should replace the tensioner.

Place tensioner in vice and very slowly compress pin back into tensioner until hole in pin and hole in housing line up.Put small allen key or drill bit in hole.Refit tensioner to motor and when every thing is lined up pull out allen key or drill bit.

thanks heaps guys, yeah it was replaced about 12 months ago, body weight is definitely not enough to compress it.
I spotted those holes as well, and was pretty sure id have to compress it somehow, but wasnt sure of the best way.
cheers
