instead of wasting on wheels why not spend it on the suspension. Just get a nice set of 15x6.5.

i agree on spending money on suspension.
most cars can run wider rims with the correct offset, at least on the rears.
a 16 inch rim/tyre can be an overall diameter of a 14 inch rim/tyre (with a plus 2 size fitament with common low profile tyres).

I dont see a problem with fitting 16z.
mine runs 17x9 on the rear no rubbing, dumped lower than most would consider sane, you could get away with it with stretched tyres and a good rolling.
either way it looks better than any 14 or 15 could in my opinion
have fun!

i tried a mates fr16 simmons (16 inch) on my sprinter last weekend and they fitted fine, not to mention looked seriosly FAT! heaps better than my 15s. i dont know why people have a problem with >15 inch wheels on sprinters.

I sentiment that... So many 86 owners are traditionalists... I like nice big rims with 35's ...looks hott...(depending on rim choice of course...can look fucked if ur selection is pooh)
-- everyone has their own agenda though... all comes down to personal preference.

I've got 16x7 ROH rims on mine, fit perfectly with the right offset, but you have to be careful you do get the right offset.
IMHO 16's are ok, perhaps a bit of an advantage rubber wise, the total diameter for mine is within 2 or 3% of original using 205/45 tyres.
The disadvantage is weight, most 16's are much heavier than smaller rims. I'm running 15x7's for the track for that reason plus 15" R compound rubber is a fair bit cheaper.

Ive had 17s, 16s, 15s and now 14s on my 86. Bigger wheels may look nice when your looking at the wheels, but the car as a whole looks so much more fitting on smaller wheels.

Skaney has a point....
if you go with bigger rims you must compensate it with lower suspesion or else it looks like a "rollerskate"... but i think 16z are a good compromise between the two...
im hoping to get my car a little closer to the ground with a bodkit soon but if that doesnt work out i think i'll buy a second set of wheels
