leaky petrol cap TA-22 Celica LT Wed, 10 August 2005 23:45 Go to next message
Hi, petrol is splashing out passed my petrol cap. I figure the problem might be due to the hardening of the rubber seal in the cap. Do members agree?

It looks like the seal is not easily removed and replaced. Do I need to buy a new cap from the wreckers (in which case the seal is probably hardened as well) or is there a better way to repair this problem?

thanks ... Greg

You can still buy new fuel caps from Toyota. Toyota will also sell you a seal kit, if you feel like pulling the guts of the cap apart. From memory, there is a total of 3 seals, 2 in the centre of the cap, plus the main rubber (cap to filler neck) gasket.

cheers Chuck.

Do a search too, there's been several discussions about this problem with ta22 fuel caps which had some good ideas in them.
