G`day all.
I`m new to the world of 4WDs and have just brought a 71' FJ40 as my first.
Its in pretty good nick with a 253 red V8 in it. Still has the old 3 speed in it and thats what my questions about. i`m wondering where i find out what sort of 4 or 5 speed boxes would fit in it? any help would be great thanks.

has the conversion retained the original toyota box? if so you shouldnt have too much trouble finding an fj40 4spd....its the 5spds that can be tough

dads 2 fj40's both have 4 spd manuals

Yeah it still got the old 3sp in it. So is it just a matter of finding a 4sp and bolting it on or do i need to make conversions for it to fit? sorry never really done anything like this before so i`m pretty clueless at the moment.

i have never seen an fj40 3 spd

might be better trying to find a 4wd forum and ask around on there?

i would imagine that it *should* be a bolt in change, but u cant be certain till u try, or someone that knows this shit tells u so Confused
