Manual MX83 Thu, 19 December 2002 14:35 Go to next message
I remember seeing a list of parts needed to convert the mx83 to a manual, but I cant find it even by searching, it may have been in an old set of forums. Does anyone have the list they can repost?

Also is 1750 a decent price for a 7mgte manual or should I keep looking?

And Although the auto is more common, easier to find and faster, its gettin a bit scary as it kicks down a gear or 2 mid corner and i just have to hold on :\

Thanks

don't worry about kick down... if your driving a good auto hard, you will either have pulled the lower gear manually if you want to push out of a corner, or you will already be setup for the corner. It is very rare for an auto to kick down mid corner unless you go in and half way through at idle throttle.

that price for a 7mgte manual is good.. if your heart is set on a 7mgte, get it.

It's not that I want to push out of the corner hard, its that I want to control how far out the arse gets Smile

Also will removing the fuse for the ABS stop it working? I have a feeling it's the reason I can't do a simple foot on brake (Surely it would have the power too)

If it can't handle that it makes me think the cars more gutless then first thought :\

Some months ago I chucked a set of springs and shocks into my old mans R31 skyline, and never really thought about it. Last week I decided to take it for a drive, and was impressed by how long it hung on around corners. One thing I wasn't impressed with though is the Jatco 4 speed auto! Moving into a corner, floor the throttle, and the bloody thing shifts up just as you leave the corner! Thing is that sort of behaviour is par for the course for Jatco 4 speeds, especially in a few VL commodores I've tried...

i know a guy with a 7mgte manual in a cressi Confused i was so trying to be polite when he was telling me how fast it was i had to go for a ride with him umm he was runnning 14PSI front mount exhuast and yeah well...your very averagely modded rexi could slam it!!! man i embaress sti's and gtr's!!!!

i'll just say the 1J's box/setup is freakin clever and i can safly say it has never put me in a dangerous situation if anything it makes it easier to do the stupid things cause there is less to do...it takes pratice getting it to do exactly what you want but when you know it and your car you'll be able to get it to shift to where you want it to with simple throttle changes...but again just select the gear point and plant it...

ohh the price of the engine/box is cool i'd put in a few hundred more buy a jzx81 halfcut and have an easy conversion on your hands as well...

just a few thoughts

coRR

I'd given up thinking I was never going to find that list, good thing I finally decided to check back after being absent for so long.

You've made my night stevevp Smile

Time to go shopping...and then convince dad he doesn't need that supra 5spd as much as I do.
