Main difference between these 2 is that the TA23 has a T series engine, the RA23 has a R series engine.

Different crossmembers..

Most other things the same as far as im aware?

Gearbox is different too.

TA23 = 2T + T50

RA23 = 18R + W50

General dimension of the car is also different (i.e. length, width) and weight of course. T series is smaller and lighter but not by much......thus front suspension (i.e. front control arms and sway bars) are s-l-i-g-h-t-l-y different. T series cross member is smaller in width than R series and general shape differs as sump position moves rear to front from T to R series. 1600cc vs 2000cc. Aesthetics also little different...

Thankyou for that misinformation. We are discussing the differences between the RA23 and the TA23, not TA22. As stated above, the differences are limited to the engine and transmission; the body is identical.

Hi,

The 18RC is a SOHC engine, whereas the 18RG is a DOHC engine. Both are 4cyl inline 2litre engines.

The 18RG is more powerful than the 18RC.

Actuall ther are signficantly more differences between the TA23 and the RA23. If you do a search, some 2 years ago I posted a thread on this very topic.

Basically the TA 23 has the RA23 body but runs all of the TA22 running gear.

Not only does this include the motor and g'box as pointed out by others it includes 13" wheels instead of 14" wheels. This means that the strusts are several inches shorter. Front and rear brakes are also different, smaller, althought I have found TAs with the same brakes as the RA. The radiator on the TA is significantly smaller than the RA.

Someone mentioned some difference with the brake fluid systems, ie the location of the reservor.

Anyway have a search for the tread 'cos I might have missed things here.

Craig
