How much to put A/Con into a RA23 Celica

I am considering buying a 77 RA23 Celica and would like to know what it would cost to have air conditioning put in. How this would be done or where to go to. I'm in Brisbane, so should I take it to someone or try and do it myself.
What do you think..
Thanks

Funny you should mention that; I was just thinking about selling all the factory aircon gear out of my RA23. I'm never going to use it so it's just excess weight! This would probably be the best place to start if you want aircon.

What does that comprise of. i.e what components? Could you give me a rough price on what you want for the stuff. would you know how much it will cost to get hooked up or would I be able to do it myself?
thanks

Hey blaze i have some aircon sitting at my joint that i want to get rid of that goes on an 18R you can have it for $60 bucks if you want.
im in brissy too.
most of the stuff you can bolt up yourself and then just get the final wiring and regasing done by the pros.
shouldnt cost you more than a couple of hundred bucks i think.

I don't wish to kill any sales here but having done 3 early A/C conversions I have a few tips before you rush out and buy anything.
Firstly, the only thing worth buying is the evaporator (under dash unit). As you will be gassing it with 134a the original R12 condenser will not be efficient and will most likely be internally corroded anyway. The hoses too are not much good either except for getting approximate lengths to have new hoses made.
Secondly, unless the compressor has just been pulled from a running car then your best to have it resealed especially if you are using the old 18R unit. Compressors that sit too long dry out their seals and after a short time will leak.
Third, setting up air-con is expensive. Expect between $500 and $800. Trying to short-cut things will usually result in spending more money later. Trust me, I've done it and payed the price.
As I said, not trying to kill off a sale here but it's better to know now than later.

Well now, I just happen to have a 1GGTE compressor that's only recently been pulled from the 1/2 cut. $50 it's yours.
