metal coating/polishing Mon, 15 August 2005 04:35 Go to next message
I have looked in these forums for any past info, but not what i was after.
Can anyone give an idea of the cost to get something polished or coated in something such as chromed?
I want to get my rocker cover(maybe other parts) done, and all i've seen is threads on how people do it themselves. Is it that expensive, can anyone recommend a place in Sydney.

What about bead blasting something?

So what is it you want? Polishing, coating, plating or bead blasting? These are all very different processes.

I know they are all very different things, i am trying to work out the best cost/look ratio.
For starters, how much to polish a rocker cover as opposed to getting it chromed?

if you have access to a bead blaster then blast it followed by a good polish. this will cost you some polish and possibly a small charge for usage of the bead blaster depending on who you know.
do you have a polishing wheel or a bench grinder which you can attach one to? i have had good results using my polishing wheel even without blasting if the condition is ok to begin with.

also it depends what type of finish you like. apart from costing different amounts, all all the processes you mentioned are going to look very different. so take take a look around a decide on what look you like first, and then try to find a cost effective way to do it.
