Hello,
It may be disappointing to hear, but perhaps your mechanic is not familiar with this early-model imported engine, and hence on account of its rarity he suggests that it is worth more than it acutally is?
You are of course welcome to seek any price you like, but for a comparison I'm presently trying to sell equivilent carbs here for $200 and I've had no interest either. My carbs are in excellent condition, whereas yours need work.
If you wish to achieve the prices your mechanic has suggested, perhaps it would be better to advertise to someone with a similar degree of understanding to your mechanic's. (You probably won't find such a person on this message board).
Hope this helps.

If you are after those prices, and your mechanic thinks it is worth it, sell it to your mechanic.

With all do respect, You can buy twin SU's for the 18rg brand new for $400.
There have also been a set of solexs on ebay for $450, they have been there for months and no one has bought them.

just put the 4AGTE in, its a no-mucking around solution and will fry any commonwhore or foulcan that crosses your path.
