How big does a 4AGE exhaust need to be? Wed, 17 August 2005 10:22 Go to next message
Hey,

What the topic says. Basically my KE70 had it's exhaust replaced just before I bought it, it's just a new replica of the original 1.5", but yeah I'm wondering if I can temporarily run a 4age through it. Will most likely replace it before I fully get the 4age running, but it would be nice to not have to worry about the exhaust as yet.

Remember that KE70 has the 4k and the exhaust is on the same side as 4age.

Cheers,
Kev.

imo, having 2.25"-2.5" piping with a decently sized tip will do just fine Very Happy

But can it run on a 1.5"? Or would there be too much backpressure?

Perhaps run isn't the right word - maybe a slightly sluggish jog would be a more fitting description?

Bah, run it with the bare collector. I did with mine, sounded fully sick!* Rolling Eyes Confused

*Until Constable Plod took exception to the noise and escorted me to the exhaust shop... seriously! Confused

agreed, if you went 2.5 on a 4age you would want careful muffler and resonator(hot dog) selection or you'll forever be replaceing filings in your teeth.

Plus you'll lose a shit load of the low down torque so it'll be a pig to drive in traffic.

I have a 2" cat back system on mine (100kw small port) and it works just fine without suffering too bad down low.

If you don't care about low down torque (mines a daily driver) then go for 2.25"

Edit: Just for interest sake it's actually a manifold back system

1.5" would be fine on the car in the mean time. having free flowing (single row baffle)mufflers will help it alot though. When you can affort it, i'd go a 2" system with some decent flowing mufflers.
