Help with engine stalling on corona 2.4 22re engine Wed, 17 August 2005 11:56 Go to next message
Hi all,

Im having a problem with the engine stallin on my 1986 Corona 2.4 CSi wagon auto, every so often the engine just stops at idle speed at the traffic lights etc, whether it is hot or cold, does anyone have an idea what it could be? Has anyone come across this problem before?

The engine is stock standard & has done 260,000 klms.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Cool

Thanks, Jason.

what is your idle set at, turn the screw and adjust it up a touch and see if that helps. I find that if mine is set at 800rpm with lights and heater on at nighter it will stutter at traffic lights and drop to 300rpm and then come back, udjust it up to say 1000rpm and its fine.
I have also found that the car usually does this more when it is low on oil keep the oil up and it idles fine. I also find the engine runs a lot smoother and idles better after throwing some nulon stop smoke in. Very Happy
