sprinter hatch struts Thu, 18 August 2005 03:24 Go to next message
Hi there,

Hatch struts are totally shagged and I cant find a new replacement listed through anyone.

Anyone have any idea if the sprinter ones are interchangeable with any other models? Like ae82 or ae92 etc.

Or maybe who stocks them?

Thanks,

Rob

Yeah, I just wanted to put in new ones... but I guess that way I could keep the hektic stiff tokico struts for that extra hatch firmness... tokico > monroe Razz

I tried 3 places none of which could get replacement ones. I took them down and they measured them up. Most of them wouldnt fit at all and some would have been too weak (difference in hatch weight). Ended up biting the bullet and paying $80 for the regas. Got done in less than a day which was very good.

Since they are only new Im cant comment on the life of them but at the moment you only have to lift the hatch up 1/3 of the way and then the struts push it the rest of the way up. Thats how good they are. A lot more effort to push it down again too.

my dad recently got some munroe gas gt struts for the front and rear of his stock sprinter, but he did say something about the struts for the hatch being available from munroe as well.

can you get GT spec with twin disc technology. Wonder if the shocks from some of the mountain bikes could be adapted.

When I bought my ADM sprinter I got a set of brand new rear hatch struts made buy Monroe. The ones in my Trueno where screwed so I put them in it. I'll have a look tomorrow at the part number on them.

yeah i got mine done maybe a year ago at strut regas sa in glenelg, did it while i waited, nice guy, good service, i highly recommend

as a parts hauler as it was then the $60 i paid was WELL worth it!

regas is much better than new, as the OEM ones come with a much better quality chromium piston than cheapo aftermarket ones
