hey. im am just abuot to rebuild my 2tgeu and put my full 3tgte turbo setup onto it. but im just wondering if there is a way to turn the boost down to say 1-2 psi or lower so i can drive it to sumwhere to get tuned. like wen i get there il just crank it back upto stock press again. also how far do i need to retard my timing to run it???
thanx and laterdays

yeah good idea
you could somehow keep the wastegate open (jamming it somehow i dunno) or you could just drive it real easy so it doesnt come on boost. id go for option two.

whats wrong with that idea?
i doubt the weight of the wastegate flap will be enough to force exhaust gasses through the turbine

wouldnt the wastegate be closed and not be able to open? or would the gate just be loose so it can be pushed open easily? hmm come to think of it your right, sorry my bad i thought you were meaning for it to stay closed, as in tryin to trick him into driving it on full boost

Pulling the rod off will allow the wastegate to swing in the breeze which will lead to minimum boost!

I can vouch for this , I disconnected my rod and you could hear the flap banging round in the housing and the car made minimal boost.

That would be easy and lead to the non creation of threads like "How many people does it take to drive a 2T off boost"

it was more becuase ive gotta drive on the highway to get to sumwhere to get tuned so it will be on boost and since my ecu wont be suplying enough fuel it will probly shit it self.
can u understand that.
i have also gotta drive it down to sumner park with no intercooler piping or exhaust cause no one in ipswich does it apparently. if u know of sumone let me know

the easist way to have no boost is to make a large boost leak. take a pipe off.

Good thinking Mr.2.
I don't think you will have any problem driving on the highway with no boost. As long as accelerate slowly it will be ok. Once you are up to speed you won't be on boost.

Ummmm...If your going to be driving it with no intercooler piping, why are you worrying about the boost?

Well wouldn't it be blowing lots of air into the engine bay and all around the place? Not an inherent issue I supposed, but not something that I would want.

not to mention the fact that it will run stupidly rich, and be effectively unfiltered.

if its a short drive that will not be of any concern, also take the pipe from the turbo this blows, dont take the one from the intake side that sucks, as said dont wanna suck bd crap in.

Un filtered, yes...
But that wouldn't be an issue, because your turbo would be blowing the dirt and dust and shit up from the engine bay and road all over the place.
So the engine wouldn't be able to breathe in any dirt at all.. Simply not possible....

Mate, give Ipswich Muffler and Towbar (3281 0444) a try. I'm pretty sure I rang them about doing some cooler piping in 2" mild and they said they should be able to knock something up.
I ended up doing the cooler piping myself, but they did my exhaust. Pretty decent job and good price.

yer i will go see them abuot it wen im finished bilding it. i was told that they wouldnt do cooler pipeing but its worth a try to just ask myself.
the prob i was saying is after i get it plumbed up it woudl be boosting with no fuel.
but yer il just pull a pipe off if i have to go to far.

you'll also want to avoid overspeeding the turbine if it's not hooked up the intake so the last thign you want to do is run the engine hard with no piping from turbo to inlet.
you should have filtered air to the inlet - regardless of whether it comes via the turbo or directly from the engine bay.
if need be, mockup the piping with bits of intake piping from EFI wrecks - if only to get it to a zorst/welding place that can weld 2" or whaterver sized pipe you want.
are you trying to find somewhere that does alloy piping? hitech radiators (rocklea?) do alloy piping, as does western suburbs radiators (sumner park)
exotic exhausts (sumner park) and muffler pro (at seventeen mile rocks) could both weld up intercooler piping with steel - well they've both said yes when i asked.
cheers,
charles

just get a tow turck. there like $50. if you have to drive your car to get tuned then it shouldnt be drivin anyway. and u cannot just take a pipe off.

Just do what I did and weld a straw thin exhaust from a 3TC onto it. The backpressure should keep the boost down
