lots. More than you could anticipate.
How much work will you be doing yourself? The price of labour is a killer, and for a 3sGTE conversion, you're looking at a conversion more exxy than a ST185 grpA(to name a vehicle with the GTE as stock).
the 1G has become more commonplace, and the price depends on how long you are willing to wait to get the parts you want for the price you want. Beyond the engine, you WILL need a stronger diff, and you WILL need to upgrade the brakes.

theres some gt4 front cuts for the 3S-GTE for 2800... then thers the fact you you'd have to put it into your egnine. change breaks. upgrade gearbox. theres a whole lot of shit that entails swaping your engine. theres plenty of threads on this forum that have covered this topic. prob have all the information you need.
but yeah put away about 5000 grand fora total conversion.
and if your not doing the work your self that''ll kill you for labour aswell

For a rough guide of cost to get the engine in and running:
1GGTE - Double the cost of the half cut
3SGTE - Four times the cost of the halfcut
Both of these can go higher or lower depending on how much work you can do yourself and what level you want to finish the conversion to.

a lot more than you initially think lol. thats from people who can do as much as possible themselves. usually you do all the work yourself except for specialized stuff and add up the costs then double it. thats the cost for a relatively easy conversion.
3sgte would be a lot more. ask cool1 about it. converting to rwd, there is lots of info on this site about 3sgte rwd conversion, do a search.

once you get out of the r-series engines (which imho is a good idea ) you're looking at $$$ any way you do it. 1g-gte is going to be the best bang-for-buck option, as the custom work is not massive. 3s-gte will required arseloads of fabrication and other exxy stuff.
and don't orget to add the price of an efi conversion when you're estimating costs!
for a 1g, your main initial costs will be: half cut, exhaust, intercooler & piping, efi conversion, engine mounts (if you're good enough to do this yourself, it'll probably cost you about $20).
then, as stated, you'll have to think seriously about a new diff, and a w58 to put behind the 1g.

No offence intended, but as said in your other post where you asked about '23 measurements, this is your first car, so it is in your best interests to take the whole build-up thing slowly. I happily admit, 18RC eats balls, but it is plenty for a young driver, and quite frankly, I am a better driver for being stuck in shitheap cars.
Never underestimate the 18RG for a moderate performance upgrade either. They are decent engines, and although working one is not the greatest bang for buck option, you will still be saving money since insurance will be breathing down your neck if you say "I'm 17, and my car has twin turbos".
Also, have you done any suspension work thus far? Firm springs with well matched shocks and some big 'I don't take no shit from no-one' sway bars will make it feel like a brand new car.
As far as exhaust is concerned, 2 1/2 is plenty to start with, but remembering that it will need some fabrication anyway. Also, the stock 1G intercooler eats poo, and there is no chance that the stock cooler pipes will go where u want them on your 23, so you'll have to get new ones anyway.
Good luck with whatever path you choose, but be rational with your decisions, and don't rush into a conversion that may be harder than enthuisiasm can complete on it's own.
