Hi flow cat for st185 Sat, 20 August 2005 07:41 Go to next message
Hi, all i'm new to this forum. I have a 90 GT4 Celica, and am currently having a 3 inch mandrel bent exhaust put on it. I purchased the dump pipe, Hi flow cat and muffler on ebay, but the dump pipe i bought had a different flange to the original so have to have that modified.... no big issue, but the guy at the exhaust place reckons there is no room for a cat under my car, and has recommended that he make one up that fits into the dump pipe!!! ARGH Just wondering if anyone else has had this done, and what difference did it make???? cheers

I had the same problem as u, so i got a 'Magic' CAT fitted to my car from Magic Performance. Fits very VERY neatly under the car.

3.5" inlet/outlet, but what the exhaust dude did was flared out some pipe to fit OVER my existing exhaust, and them welded the CAT onto that and then the CAT effectively had 2 sleeves which fit over the top of the existing exhaust.

Looks good, fits neatly next to the driveshaft and floor pan. Tho unfortunately i don't have any pics

Tho since u already have a cat, that isn't the best option. But having the CAT in the downpipe is a surefire way to wreck it, that is how my last one died, just blew out of the exhaust system, gets too hot.

Regards Nathan

John @ Importbits has these awesome "MetalCat" highflow catalytic convertors at the moment and is selling them for $349 delivered... I will probably be putting on on my GT4 when the time comes.
