Car smoky...blown turbo?

My gt4 has just yesterday started smoking, not constantly, and not really under boost, just randomly. Mostly happens when cruising along at normal speeds, the smoke looks blue. When the car is stopped at the lights, or when you park, it smokes too, but this time it looks white, could almost be steam.
WTF can be wrong, my first thoughts would be the turbo, although it is not any worse under boost.

Damn, that sucks man.
Mine did something similar before, but it only does it rarely.
I pulled over out the front of a friends place and jumped out (while letting the car cool down) walked around the back of the car and it was just pooring out blue smoke at idle. i was like wtf!!??
Didn't find out what it was. maybe burning oil in the intake pipe? pull that off and check out the IC aswell.

D'oh. Sorry to hear that dude.
But smoke on idle... I'd say it has a good chance of being valve stem seals...

I've had it with the headfucks this car keeps giving me!
I'm gonna take it to a mechanic tomorrow just to get a diagnosis and make a bloody decision about its future now I think!

I had initially thought it had to do with oil in the intake, as it happened straight after I was mucking around with the PCV piping and the catch can (which was full of oil and water from condensation). But when it started doing it again today I figured it must be something else

If its your valve stem seals you should blow a puff of smoke as soon as you start the car.
If its turbo seals it will most likely happen if you let your car idle for a long time and or under heavy boost.
Quite often you will not notice that it smokes under boost because hey, who is looking behind them when they are at full boost? Plus at speeds the smoke will not appear as thick as it does at idle.

Yeah I cleaned out the catch can, there was lots of shit in it which I thought might have gone into the intake, as some of it poured out the top hose when I lifted it out. Still, I doubt that after 2 days it would still be burning off that much shit if that's what it was.
Seems to be oil when driving/sitting at the lights, and white smoke (water I think) when the car is parked just after driving.
Doesnt seem to make a puff of smoke when the car is first started, only happens badly once the car is hot.
Plus it just started all of a sudden, wasn't a gradual thing at all. Coincidentally just after I was mucking around with the BOV and the PCV lines/catch can.

Well I did an oil change today, turfed out the watery thin 10w-40 Mobil Synth S that was overdue for a change, and chucked some nice thick Penrite HPM 3 20w-60 in there. From my short test drive (it was dark so kinda hard to see anyway), it didnt seem to be smoking. I will check again tomorrow.
My theory: maybe the previous oil was too thin, plus the fact that it was getting old, and so it was breaking down under heat, and burning up? Does this sound right? Christ, if that's all it is I'll be happy!
I'll report back tomorrow.

Mate. Don't even think about selling it. I saw it again on the way to work, and it looks sex.
