Hello Members,
I am a very recent member of toymods and would like to say what a good site this is. I hope to be a long running member one day and looking forward to the dyno day in January.
Anyway, a little aboout me or my cars should I say. I have recently privalty imported a GT4 celica (st165) 1986 model. The car was purchased stock with 60 000km on the clock. The car was bought in perfect condition except for clutch. Do date the clutch has not been fixed and the only modifacations made are a set of 17" five spokes.
Anyway I need some help with trying to remove the warning chimes that sound when I travel at a speed over 100km/h. If anyone can help me with disconnecting this annoying feature please let me know. Even if I could adjust the speed I would be happy, but listening to the chimes heading from Sydney to Bisbane for christmas is not going to be fun.
Safe cruzin over the Chritmas period and look forward to seeing you all at the dyno day in January.

GT4Rider,
Welcome and a great choice in car. Although i cannot answer your question, i can steer you in the right direction. Join the GT4 egroup and ask the question there. http://www.groups.yahoo.com There arent many ST165's here in Australia. And none of the Aust delivered models i've seen have the chimes.
How much did it cost you if you dont mind me asking? I was toosing up the thought of buying one as a second car

Sorry for the late reply, been really busy as everyone is i guess this time of year. I would prefer not to say how much the car cost me to import because hopefully i will not be keeping it for to much longer before upgrading again. I dont mind discussing it in a private forum, however i will mention that it is well worth the while.
I owned a celica sx (st162) for about 18 months proir to importing the gt4 and love being able to compare the true differences. The gt4 was driven in Yokoharma (pardon the spelling) as a winter only vechile. The car itself is in wonderful condition for its age. The whole undercarriage looks as thought it has never been driven on tar or dirt. The car itself was imported with snow wheels and chains and all sorts of material to allow yourself to escape the danders of snow driving.
Tommorow, I will be spending the day very hung over taking the whole dash off. This is a major job as i am sure your aware being a celica driver. Hopefully i will find this chime and when i do it is going to be killed!!! I spend about 8 hours christmas eve listening to the the &*^$#$# up noice it makes.
While i am there i can hook up the amps on the head unit, well actually this is my number one purpose but the chimes need to go!!!!
Thanks for the advice as well,
gtrider

Ha ha.... I finally removed my reverse beeper.... That got crunched in a big way
Why must the Japanese try so hard to piss us off.
I think it must be to discourage us from stealing their cars.

Some of these things can be changed with the toyota tech one unit. Though I'm not sure if it applies to your car.
There kinda just a series of flags in the computer.
For example, with a soarer you can plug the unit in, set a default ride height for the tems, how long the courtesy lights take to fade, the operation of the fog lights, the turn on with the blinkers fog light set up, chimes, seat memory and all that.
Most dealers wont have the card for the gt4 JDM but it will be the same as something else, for example the new Celica shares alot with the GS lexus, and the soarer shares most of the LS400 stuff. Lexus dealers frequently have more experience with this than toyota techs, and if you want a dealer to try to adjust it, Dubbo lexus would be a good dealer to call.

Hello,
I tried yesterday to disconect the warning chimes on my st165 gt4 celica with out any luck. I have looked over the car for two blue caples without any luck. Know I am getting a little desperate, if anyone can tell me how they have disconnect the warning chimes that sound constantly when you travel at a speed over 100km/h, I would greatly appreciate if you could share this informartion with me. I have looked at all the fuses and relays and have not found any that are for this feacture. I really dont want to fork out ot take it to an auto-electriction when I could spend this money on extra power.
Regards
