did u check the oil. my ol pinney was famous for it, lol, we'd check the oil in it, fine, apparently, lol, til one day i decided to change the gasket and oil in it, when i put the new shit in, she took about 3 times as much, the whine didnt dissapear, but was barely audible inside the cabin..
otherwise, lol, fill her with banana's

about all you can do is readjust the positions of the crown and pinion to set the backlash and contact position.. with luck it may wear itself into the new position. better to do it sooner rather than later..
or it may be stuffed....

I had a T18 once with a leaking gasket around the diff centre. I didnt get around to fixing it until it starting making some horrible whine. When I removed the centre...it had about 200mls of oil in it
Even after replacing the oil and gasket, the thing would still whine like a biarch. The crownwheel and pinion obviosly experienced some accelerated wear.

With my MA61 once got the new center installed (and didn't replace the pinion bearing), my pinion bearing was worse for wear so I replaced it and got rid of the whine. I had a continous clunking sound in the SA63 but found out later it was the uni joints on the tailshaft which failed
See if you can find friction modifer if it's not the bearings otherwise you might have to rip the diff open and see what is happening on the inside.
Cheers.

How about getting rid of Diff clutch shudder, chatter, lumpyness, ruffness and clicky noisyness?
I buahgt a really tight G series 4:3 diff. had castrol LSD oil in it, it chattered and chugged on slow turns, quite anoying. Then when i was in melbourne i was sold "premium" real good LSD oil! the best! $20/litre, so i was told from a fellow toymodder. So i tried that out and my Diff wants to rip itself apart!! Totally undrivable with this oil in there, not very happy! When the oil does allow the clucthes to slip the whole car feels like the wheels are square shaped! the voilent vibrations and noises it makes really send shivers down my spine! (won't mention any names, but your oil is not so good for my diff)
So any recomendations for a GOOD proven LSD oil for G series clutch LSD's?
I have heard redline is good, but here in tas nobody seems to sell it.

one mans good may not be another mans
it sounds like it has too much friction.. which is eactly what you want for a worn LSD ....
as for original post.. just chuck in some lead or solder filings

Can't go past Redline OIL, I have used it in my trans on the old car (Skyline), I had syncro issues, this stuff took it away completely.
I gather the right Redline Oil will do your diff wonders.

The whole drive line of my car seems to shudder since i dropped the back more, feels like the whole axel is loose (ra60). I do remember that my mates S12 would shudder up the tail shaft when it was mega low, said it was the uni joint angle, anyone looked into that ? Also my diff whynes like a whore since i cranked donuts one day.. its locked but it was fine for a few weeks.. the diff leaks a bit so maybe she's low now lol
Whats this talk on bananas in the diff ? haha sounds fun to me.

USE HEAVY DUTY GEARBOX OIL. IT'S 110wt INSTEAD OF 90w. HELPS A BIT. IT'S MENT FOR TRACTORS. YEEHA

Thicker oil masks the problem but doesn't fix it. There's no easy way out of this, take it to a diff shop and get it fixed properly!

You put some bananas in the diff just like it sounds!
All it does is thicken up the oil so it masks the nosie, but like Norbie said, better off getting it fixed or just put a new centre in

The old banana peel trick is extremely temporary of course. It's an old favourite for dodgy people trying to sell a car with a rooted diff.
