3SGTE Dipstick problem

I need some help.
I have a GT4 165 with a dipstick that is too long to go all the way into the holder. This means it doesn't make a seal.
I was having some oil leak problems so i wanted to rule this out and i got a dipstick from a 3SGE, which is heaps shorter, and it fits in the hole right.
Long term problem is i cant check my oil properly.
Can i use a dipstick from a ST162 for my ST165? ie do they have the same block, sump combo so can I use the 3SGE dipstick?
Also how much oil does the 3SGTE take? is it close to the 3SGE
I'm due for a change and by putting in the right amount i can see which dipstick shows the right readings.
And yes i'm possitive that the orig dipstick doesn't fit, i've tried it from heaps of angles. No go.
Thanks for any input

the 3sgte dipstick is a very tight fit. it should fit in.
I find on my 3sgte angle the loop of the handle toward the alternator, push it in a bit and then angle it toward the block.
I know that the 3sge one is longer. The only solution is using the 3sgte one, from my opinion neway...

if u look at ur dipstick man u should notice its got a twist halfway down...., the 3sge ones dont from memory, id say it has something to do with trying to make it easier to get to because of the positioning of the turbo on the 3sgte...so i dont think a 3sge one will really solve your problem..u just have to be patient...persistant, and u have to know how to cuss in atleast 5 languages to get the fucker in

Yeah you were all right. Cheers for ya help fellas.
I also found info saying 3SGTE takes 4.5 litres of oil to fill including filter. Correct me if i'm wrong.
Also does anyone know a good place (website) to get specifications and info like that coz i can't get a GT4 manual or that type info without searching the net for hours.
Cheers again guys.
