dot 5 is corrosive to rubber if i remember correctly so i would steer clear of it unless you have steel brake lines..
Dot 4 is fine i brake pretty hard and on the track with dot 4 ive never had any troubles whatsoever

Dot 5.1 is fine as it's not silicon based. That said, the Castrol Super Response Dot 4 seems highly recommended and beats most of the ones I compared it to on specs by a lot.

Yeah, I've used this for years in the Celica and would be my choice.
Just thought I'd ask and see other peoples' opinions.

DOT 5 is silicon based and has different properties to the glycol based dot 3 / 4 fluids.
DOT 5.1 however is glycol based but has the boiling point of DOT 5 fluids... i.e. its just a DOT 4 fluid with boiling point of DOT 5.
Find out what DOT 5.1 fluids you can get your hands on and then check their wet / dry boiling points.
Motul is one of the best DOT 5.1 fluids that is commonly available IIRC.

Mick, where can I get that Wilwood stuff?
Castrol Response Super is ~$10/500mL from Supercheap.
The RBF 600 is ~$25/500mL from Shift Motorsport in Lansvale.
I can't see the RBF 600 being 2.5 times better than the Response Super (which already exceeds Dot 5 standards), so I think I'll be sticking with the Castrol.

Thats what I have been running, I had no problems at the last track day using this (my car is pretty light though so doesn't work the brakes too hard).
Gave it a good workout a few weeks back and it was fine then too (hills and motorkhana stuff).
Actually it's been the same fluid in the system for just over 12 months now I'm a lazy turd.

the wil570 is fine.i have sold cases of it,if it does the job in a state level sportsedans etc etc.the 600 is for stuff like our cars that brake from 300km\h with brembo 12 spotters and soft pads that last a weekend.

i use ap600
‘Typical’ New Dry Boiling Point in excess of - 300°C (572°F)
‘Wet’ E.R. (Equilibrium Reflux) Boiling Point - 210°C (410°F)
i use the ap600 becuase i have a case of it(it costs between $90-$120 for 500mls from memory),but ive used the wil570 with no problem.change it every 6 months or so.
