Yes they have removable cartridges, unless the struts have been replaced with non servicable ones in the life of the car.
Have you had a look through the AW11 suspension and braking forum at www.mr2oc.com there's a lot of info there about what shocks are popular. I'm running custom valved stock style shocks in mine.

i do have aftermarket ones in my car atm with some sort of adjustable shocks so im not sure if they are non serviceable ones i dont suppose there is any way to tell the difference???
Pull the dust cover up so you can see the top of the strut body through the coil. It should go straight up and then have a big gland nut on the end which is holding the cartridge in. If it goes up and then is kind of crimped in and you don't see a nut on the end it will be a non serviceable type.
If need be I'm sure you can find some original strut housings around.
