Congratulations, you have answered three very correct responses to your own question.

Add also, combustion chamber efficiency, hot-spots, A/F-R, inlet temps.

More information is needed. EG is it well tuned on awesome fuel and using 70deg advance at full load/revs?

	I have a standard 4agze motor
t3/t4 dash 2 exhaust wheel and housing
i was using standard fuel the mech says it was the turbo boosting too high about 1.2bar that's why it detonated .

step 1. get aftermarket engine management
step 2. get it properly tuned
step 3. get new GZE pistons + rings from toyota
step 4......
step 5. profit

it's wierd it broke out there than lifting/curving/breaking up the top ring land first.
yea an aftermarket engine management set-up is best (and properly tuned like mentioned) if you want to run high amounts of boost, and a good i/c set-up.

though i am having better luck useing my 9.4:1 casties than i did with the gze forgies....
