ae86 and tacho problems. Fri, 26 August 2005 15:00 Go to next message
Just wondering,

I have recently put in a black top 4age into what used to be an ae86 with a 4ac. It seems to rev fine up until 4500 revs, when it just stops, no matter what gear (or even neutral, would be good for racing off the lights Very Happy ) I'm in. It seems like its just rev limited to 4500 revs... Why could this be, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Another thing i forgot to mention, it doesnt seem like its revving out to rev limiter at 8200 (very distinct sound) or whatever it is, it seems like its just stopping at 4500...

This might sound dumb question sorry im tired its early Razz

But are you saying the tacho stops at 4500rpm, or the actual engine refuses to rev past 4500?

As when I changed over to my new engine the old tacho wouldn't go over 5000rpm, just sat there. Something to do with the signal being finer on newer ignition systems.

yeah sideshow it was me that the car was at penrith.

It stopped revving past 4500...

apparently it was some problem with the ecu not sensing the revs....

oh well good now Smiley = thanks of all the info guys.
