There is nothing stopping you putting a BOV on there somewhere but it wont make any noises no matter how hard you try!

Well i'm no expert on 4afc's but I would say that if it dont have a turbo there is no point at all in having a BOV!
The only reason for a BOV is to keep a turbo spinning when the throttle goes closed!

You could always get a mini compressor and attach it to a BOV and then when you want to make the noise you just press a button on your dash!
Or you could fit a micro switch on the throttle and wire up a momentry circuit to the compressor so that when you take your foot off the throttle it makes the noise for a short time!

OR you could always do a turbo conversion Very Happy

fitting a bov to a NA car is about as bad as eating a cat. Its such a wank man. No offence but why would u wanna consider it.

If u like the psssshhh sound... save your $$ and get a turbo motor. Or , perfect a bov sounding gear crunch lol.

Thing is, I don't think performance actually has anything to do with it - it's merely the illusion thereof. Someone care to explain to me why I saw a Fooly Sic(tm) Skyline last night, with a mattress sized intercooler that made me take a closer look. That closer look revealed that the 'cooler' was in fact a piece of radiator core with no end tanks...

If performance, rather than toss value, was the aim, how the hell do you think Autobarn can shift so many shiny exhaust tips and hubcaps? I've even seen a $400 exhaust tip! Maybe there's something I am missing here... Rolling Eyes

I don't get it either.

Originally all these trends came from actual performance equipment but now they've all gone to far. ie lowering your car to increase handling is now lowering your car so it scrubs and handles like crap.

And whats the deal with reclining your seat so far you can't see where your going??? that must make you heaps faster. Confused

well, I'm not a fan of vento-to-atmosphere blow-off valves on turbo cars, let alone on n/a cars. all that's done for is to get a gay sound, and make your car run worse.
much better to get a plumb back, pod filter, and you still get a nice, more subtle noise, plus better performance than a standard bov.

there are a lot of options for putting a bov onto an n/a car, for all the ricers out there. the most popular is an electronic one, which takes the signal from the TPS to determine when it should make the blow-off noise. I'd assume if you had a variable TPS then it could probably be made to make loud and quiet blow offs as well, depending on how hard you backed off the throttle (just like a real bov). I never looked into it, because those sort of mods to me are a huge waste of money, and would be better spent on improving performance.

but that's personal preference, and while I dont respect what ricers do, if it's what makes them think their car is improved so be it..

ps: I have no idea what sort of TPS the 4a-fc has

Interesting thing that really, I remember from looking under the bonnet of my sisters 4afc powered(!) car, that there is an air injection/bypass/whateverthehell valve there that makes a slight noise when you back of the throttle - haven't studied it in a long time, but hey, there opens up a world of 'opportunity' Very Happy

Speaking also of cut springs and having the seat in the fully sic position - best that nobody gets me worked up over cut springs, but I DO know of somebody who claims having the seat right back gives them more control; 'it lets you really feel what the car is doing, mate.' This is a person with a carby turbo mazda 626, who pulled out his dash and painted the whole thing (including the gearshift boot!) with a white spraycan.

Another tip - why go to all the trouble of cutting springs, when you can just take the bloody things out? I've seen it done more than once too!
