Exhaust: Is this too expensive

Hi guys,
The local exhaust shop quote me $600 for 2.25" mandrel bent exhaust system for my sprinter. Its not a complete system its from where the original exhaust manifold branch off into 2 smaller pipes. Or I can have a complete exhaust system including custom extractor for $1000.
Is this too expensive or about right?

Of course its Titanium! I would accept nothing less its for the AE86 after all.
I think its mild steel, the shop made some very nice system for a few V8s they have at the shop. I wonder if its worth getting the extractor as well??? I heard some conflicting answer regarding this, some said that give good power and other said it just make it sound better.

Depends on the muffler.
If its a $90 cannon they are going to use, then its a ripoff.
But if its a $350 Lukey, then its a good price.

by all accounts, the 4AG extractors are good from factory, and not much to be gained from getting new ones made up...

Well my 2 1/4" exhaust for my ae86 cost me $300 from the exhasut manifold back, but that was after some confusion over the phone. He said normally it would have cost about $400. That included 1 general type of muffler and they fitted a cat that I bought too.

From the exhaust shop it was going to cost me like $250 for the cat, so i rang a local wrecker and I picked a VN Commodore one up for $66.

Hey, try getting a quote from "Andy's Exhaust Werks".
I've gotten some good and cheap parts off the guy, and a friend had some work on his exhaust done though him also.

Heh. Press bent goodness of 2.5" from turbo back (supplied my own high flow cat), resonator and muffler. Costed me like 300 bucks?

They don't squash the tube when it's bent so you have a constant diameter through out the whole exhaust.
I've heard a rulew of thumb that suggests if your using press bends, go 1/4" bigger you should get a similar flow to using the smaller diameter with mandrels but it should end up costing less
