Installing Boost Controller into Soarer Thu, 26 December 2002 22:46 Go to next message
Hey Guys,

I received my HKS EVC 3 Boost controller fresh (well slightly used) from Malaysia on Monday and am planing on installing it tomorrow.

I've looked up the PDF manuals from the HKSUSA.com website and it all looks fairly straight forward but they only have documentation for single turbo applications.

What is the easiest way to install the actuator. Do I just link the wastegate lines together with a T piece to the actuator?

Any of those who have installed a boost controller (manual or electronic) previously, what size tubing is needed?

Any other pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The T piece is the go, with same diameter piping as the HKS piping. (at least that is what is running on my Apexi AVC-R)

The Apexi USA site may have some documentation on the 1JZ engines

Remedy I went through the same thing with hookin up my boost controller, you gotta T up both turbo acurator lines, go to ur local repco or whoever get some fuel hose line doesnt need to be efi, same thickness as whats already connected to the accurators i got some left over if u need to know what thickness etc. 2 T connectors and one straight conector, and abt a dozen small hoseclamps. pretty easy to do but ull have a bitch of a time getting to the rear accurator line and connecting that but once u got that its easy connect the two pressure ends together with a t piece and the same for the accurator side t piece and then between those two put ur boost controller solanoid or the connector fitting ur suplied with that goes to the unit make sure its all clamped up and hey presto couple hrs later and a few $%$#$^ that sux getting ur hands behind that back turbo shell be sweet Smile good luck.

so what did you have to remove to do this.

Did you take the heat sheild off etc.

I hope I don't have to do that cause that means pulling off all the induction piping aswell.....

If thats the case I think what I may end up doing is installing the electronic side of it (ie controller into cabin, loom through firewall) which I'm okay at and leave the mechanical side of things to the local auto electrician which should hopefully only cost an hours labour or so.
