18RG fuel line concerns

Hello modders,
I have a minor issue with connecting the fuel lines. As i'm sure you all know the fuel lines from the fuel pump to carby come very close to the distributor.
To my knowledge 'Fuel and Spark (from dizzy) means BANG!!!
My solution is to use the steal piping from the existing fuel lines whilst in close proximity to the dizzy then finish off with flexible lines.
Has anyone else had these concerns and also, is there a better way of doing this. Just out of interest, i'll be using webers.
Cheers, Pomey!

never had an issue.... and my motor wasnt "well kept" before i got it.
havent had an issue but at the same time i can see your concerns.
split hose or a bad clamp will result the same near anything on that side so i don't think it would make a huge difference.
but like they say every little bit counts.
probably best to minimise the number of joins in the fuel tract for best results.
Cheers
Nathan

As long as the fuel is inside the fuel lines (ie they're in good condition, not old and brittle) there is no danger. Fire requires both fuel and oxygen; there is no oxygen in the fuel lines hence no fire.

If a fuel line splits inside the engine bay you're pretty much screwed no matter what. The fact that it's close to the distributor makes SFA difference.

Thanx guys,
I guess even though it may cause a problem, the fact that no-one has had any probs gives some comfort. I'll make sure the bonnet is closed and a fire extinguisher is handy on start up!
I'm sure i'll come across more obstacles so look out for new threads. I do my best to work things out but i am a beginner.
Cheers, Pomey!

I am restoring my ra28 close to show condition and have thought about using speedflow braided fuel lines for all of them. Even replace the steel lines with them. Maybe if u were concernd about it u should try using speedflow braded lines. You have to make them to correct length etc and may have to solder some connections to ur carburetor. Just a thought
