Malpassi Regulator, what rate? Fri, 27 December 2002 08:02 Go to next message
Anyone know what the manifold to rail pressure ratio is of the black "high rate rising rate fuel pressure regulator" is?

(Not the silver one)

I need to know what the ratio is so i can work out my rough curve of fuel injection pulsewidths before i put it on the dyno to save tuning time which is quite expensive.

Dude,
Is that the rising rate reg?? If so, its 3 bar fuel pressure to every 1 bar of boost pressure.......

Yep its the high rate rising rate one.

So in theory if a I have 38psi base rail pressure and i'm running 14psi of manifold pressure the rail pressure will be
(3 x 14) + 38= 80psi

that correct?

I was driving the car today and it has no intercooler at the moment so no boost was present in the manifold.

When I accelerated the fuel pressure gauge went from 38psi to 60psi!! This with no boost at all, so if it were to work the way you say i should add 3 bar(44psi) to the 60psi present at 0"Hg.

I'll then have 104psi of fuel pressure!!!!! Thats just way, way to high for the factory hoses and even the injectors!
Shit!! Problems! Ahhhhhgggg, i want to get these issues sorted before the intercooler goes in for the dyno day.

Any ideas anyone?

is the reg adjustable?? if not then i have heard that you can use a bleed valve similar to what people use for there boost control!

Yes, its the adjustable RRFPR.
But it only lets you adjust the base pressure, which should be no less than 38psi anyways. Any lower and i'll get improper fuel atomisation and poor combustion mixtures.
