I had that problem, it used to happen when my battery was flat, i spent hours searching fo the problem, in the end it was the battery.
But this is different, they dont work at all. Im going to get another indicator box and try it in a couple days, then if that doesn't solve it, i'll drag out the multimeter and start testing.
Hopefully i wont need to trace the loom, god i hate electrics. I should get some of those little mechanical indicators, little hands. ahhh
Anyway i was wondering if anyone had similar problems in the past, the loom is g\etting fairly old but the hazzards work fine so i guess thats good, does anyone know if the box for the hazzards/indicators has two different mechanisms inside it?, one for the hazzards and one for the actual indicators?
Anyways, i guess i'll sort it out...

I know this probably sounds stupid but have you had someone eyeball your globes? it is possible that you have a shot globe. I had a similar problem a few years ago and replacing all the globes solved it.

I had this same problem not too long ago. There is only the 1 flasher can. But for whatever reason, it was not getting any power for the indicators. Hazzards worked fine....
Tried tracing it for a while, and eventually got the shits .
In the end, I just wired in another flasher can for the indicators, giving it power from elsewhere. So now there's 2 flashers.

yes well i have found the problem but its not so simple to fix. There is no power going to the indicator switch, lever, there is power going to the fuse box and the hazzards work but somewhere in the loom there is a fault.
There are so many plugs and things, i find myself staring at with a puzzled look on my face that i think im going to see an auto elect. If this is going to be too $$ i'll bypass the loom and start form scratch, id rather use the original loom but i cant see myself dfixing this. thanks for the help,
anyone know a reasonable not too expensive auto elect in SA?

This is a typical type prob for any autoelec, ring local ones near you and ask for an estimate over the phone eg the max it would cost, then compare. This is also a real good way to find out whats most likely the fault.
Good luck.

hey guys, well i got the problem solved. no more arm arms out the window to indicate for me. Well it was pretty simple, once i asked my mate to turn off my lights in the car while i went inside, he is a moron and pushed my hazzard switch untill it was rammed through the dash. ( and still left the lights on and went inside.
Anyways i fixed it but the switch has always sat a little further in than original. So what happened was i when i turned my hazzards one day on and then turned them off i didnt actually push them hard enough and although they werent flashing they were on enough to stop the indicator circuit from working properly.
Anyways the auto elect fixed a few wires under my dash too and it cost about $35. SO im relieved,as ive never had any eledctircal prob. fanks for the advice
