It was a nice turn out. Lots of spectators, so the event would've pulled in a fair raking of cash spectator wise.

As for the drifting...they seemed to go well in the wet. But when the track dryed, seems like most people lost their nack on the first corner Razz

The most of the cars there were pretty hardcore. But for the next time this event is held, I'd like to see some Toyotas in the mix to show them Nissan drivers how it's really done Very Happy

Also, the weather and the lack of undercover places was a total drag on the event. Needless to say, it was frickin' cold!!!

Yeah, was a good night, alot of the cars couldn't handle the track drying out. People who went would have seen my car, I still think lance in the s14 won the final battle against the adam. On the way home got followed by a purple z10 soarer, and 3 commo's tried to race me along the freeway all at once. Needless to say, they had no chance... Rolling Eyes

hey guys,
i was meant to go in my 86 to drift night, turned out to be a super bad day for me.
originally managed to get in one of the 30 spots available for this, sent in an application thru the antilag forums to a guy named Peta Capleton.
Gave me all the wrong info, spent all day getting the car ready and rushing to the track, told me i had to be there SHARP at 3:30pm, and after asking for requirements on the car was told to just rock up.
Finally reach Wanneroo in time to be told that practice doesn't start till 5pm, great, thats ok, will wait. then get told i cant go in unless i have a fire extiguinsher mounted in the car.
i dont blame wanneroo at all for this but one named Peta Capleton for the poor organisation skills and the lack of information given out.
After all that i decided i was too pissed off and just drove home. Anyways thought i'd post what happened, and would have been the only toyota there i guess.

Man that purple GZ10 is my old soarer, sold it about 3months ago, man id be hoping you could beat it seeing though it running a worn out 1G auto Rolling Eyes Anyway how come you werent drifting your soarer?? it appears that it was even asking to be drifted, well thats what the plates say!! Smile looks hell tidy man!!!

I was suprised not to see like about 15 AE86's there, seeing though they are like the all time greatest drift car ever built....... arent they?? Rolling Eyes

be interested in the friday night practice seshions to get the supra out and see if it has any chance of staying sideways at all, seeing though ive never drifted it, wouldnt mind giving it a go. As im sure a few other peeps would like to try aswell.

hey dude i could quite easily be swayed if i could actually see some ae86's pegging some phat drifts in real life, just because there is a cartoon about it doesnt mean that all the ae86's in australia can drift, although depends who ya ask i guess Rolling Eyes
I dont think that going sideways around 1 90 degree corner is a real drift either, so that counts out about 95% of the "drifters" around perth Laughing

I was suprised not to see like about 15 AE86's there, seeing though they are like the all time greatest drift car ever built....... arent they?? Rolling Eyes

I would be in shock if this came from anyone else but you Matty lol

whats it gonna take to sway your judgement on the feeble old tried and tested hachi chassis?

i hope its a hell of alot Wink because for the life of me i cant justify the prices!

Eldar.O. *Currently driving VT Commodore* Sad

hey dude i could quite easily be swayed if i could actually see some ae86's pegging some phat drifts in real life, just because there is a cartoon about it doesnt mean that all the ae86's in australia can drift, although depends who ya ask i guess Rolling Eyes
I dont think that going sideways around 1 90 degree corner is a real drift either, so that counts out about 95% of the "drifters" around perth Laughing

Matty

you wouldnt bitch so much if you knew the entire story about owning an ae86 in aus and trying to get it set up for drift.

cmon keiichi show us how us how to power slide in your fully sik rice wagon Rolling Eyes

with all due respekt ae86 owners of aus.

all the money spent doing up an ae86 for drift, could easily peg you an s13 of equal calibre.

and its not like modding an ae86 makes you individual, and its not like your part of an "elite few".

Fair enough if the car was affordable enough, but there are just so many other choices when deciding for a dedicated drift car, which half of them arent anyway.

The car is rear wheel drive, ill give you that, but it just doesnt seem like a good base to start with for drift.

i could sit here for hours and argue as to why the ae86 is over priced and all, but im not going to sway your minds, im just trying to justify my thoughts Smile

yeah, you wouldnt guess it, but i liked ae86's before i met Matty and his "Wildsupra"!

Matty i hate you man Razz

Yeah, I would have entered but I just spent 4,500k on a new turbo setup and computer. So I'm a bit poor now. Plus my LSD is sloppy and my clutch is on the way out. Next time I will be out there for sure.

Eldar come on bro lets keep this real, none of us are going to go buy an S13....for obvious reasons. Not just coz they suck Razz

It was extremely dissapointing to see only nissans out the competing, im sure there are quite a few toyotas on here that could keep up the pace and give em a run for there money.

Can someone shed some more light on how we go about getting involved?? I would do my best to drop a few nissans down a peg or 2 if my car could prove to do it, but i need the chance to give it a wizza. How do we get into the practice seshions?

Cheers

what you need to do to give these nissan guys a run is to just get out there and give it a go, no matter what state ur car is in. i cant say mine is in great condition, 350km clocked on the little 4age, tokico suspension, lsd is all you need... who gives a shit if you're crap or if people laugh at you, just get out there and give a shot.
you dont need a d1 spec car to be out practising Razz

Cheers

oh and if you wanna get involved -
make sure you contact WASCC (western australian sporting car club) they will give you direct information on what you need to do to get in and go sideways.
Don't get info from forums - i learnt the hard way

My old stock JZA70 slides nicely, so I'd have to say with your LSD, suspension and a bit more power your supe will slide quite nicely, I know my soarer does... Rolling Eyes

I thought it was a pretty good night, even if it was all nissan and no toyota, its easy to payout on AE86s not being there cos they have a reputation as being super crazy drift cars but unless you were out there on the track it seems very hypocritical, i have much respect for everyone who gave it a go regardless of skill level or make of car they did their part to bring drifting to perth, lets hope this night was the first of many...

well .. glad to see I didn't miss out on much..
I'd hate for everyone to come back sayin "best night ever" etc etc Razz
Hope to make it to the next drift meet.. and by the sounds of things, there will be a mix of Soarer's, Supra's and Sprinter's to add to the competitors! Very Happy
