Sprinter struts + coilover sleeves measurements

I don't have a vernier/telescopic gauge on me and I don't know anyone that I can borrow one from so I'll just ask here, what's the diameter of a sprinter strut?
And what inner diameter would I need on the sleeve?
I'm posting this because I've seen people posting 51mm and 50mm and I really don't know!
Thanks in advance

the strut diameter is 2" so i'd imagine it would be closer to 51mm

it's DEFINATELY 51mm.
i've made at least 15 sets of coilovers for ae86's.
51mm is the sleeve size i've bought, because my vernier calipers told me to.

Thanks for the response guys, muchly appreciated.
51mm is definately the size?
How much movement is there if I put these on? Or is it a bitch to get on in the first place and would need to make the strut extremely cold and the sleeve hot?
Thanks guys!
Steve-AE86;
just wondering... do you use steel or alloy sleeves? After a while would the thread on the alloy wear off?
Sorry for the question guys, really struggling to decide on what to choose!

personally, i've always used steel sleeves.
not that it would matter, cos they come with alloy locking nuts...
takai used alloy sleeves on his, and has had no probs. i spose it comes down to personal choice, and there's always the cost factor.
51mm!!!

Yeah, i have alloy sleeves on mine. Hold up quite nicely, but you have to be slightly more careful with them. Ive seen someone damage the thread by trying to adjust a set with a hammer and screwdriver.
Didnt help that he put a big crack in the locking ring...
Anyway
2 inches = 50.8 millimeters

xolent and all,
No they are not 51mm outside diameter. They are 2.00 inch outside diameter and this is the way they should be refered to.
The stuts on AE86 and for that matter RA23/28/40 (same size) are made using imperial tube sizes.
So simply forget any talk of metric sizes when ordering parts.
If you order or have someone make a set, such as the Koni ones from www.importbitz.com.au order them as a set of 2 inch inside diameter sleeves and you will have no trouble sliding them onto the strut after removing the OEM spring platform.
Also any competant machine shop can work in imperial and metric if you plan to get them made. Make them steel as they are welded top and bottom to the stut.
Alloy sleeves need some other method of keeping them in place on the strut and I really don't understand from other comments how this is possible.
Regards
Rodger

You need to make a seat for the alloy sleeve to sit on.
Steel sleeves, has anyone's rusted and was very difficult to adjust?
Thanks for your comments guys, fucken love you guys!
