T series engine in R series body?

I believe that the 18RG engine came standard in some of the TA Celicas so I would assume it had a W50 gearbox or the like attached.
If the TA Celicas took an R series engine as well as the T series engine, would a T series engine and gearbox fit straight into an R series car?
I have an old RA40 and as much as a 18RG would be nice, there seems to be much more parts and engines around of the 2T and 3T variety.
Apart from some possible tailshaft mods what else would need to be done? Would the gearshift be in a similar position?
The reason I ask this is that there is a 2TGEU + GBox + computer for sale and I wondered if it would easily replace the mighty 18RC I am currently endowed with.
I can't find info on any transplants of T series engine into a RA40.

It should be fairly easy to do, not sure if it would be worthwhile.
Try to track down a TA23 Celica, it should have the parts you need and I'm 90% sure they will fit in an RA40 (ie engine crossmember, transmission, tailshaft).

I agree with Norbie. I'm not so sure it'd be worth it. You probably wouldn't be developing as much torque with the 2TG as with the 18RC. The positive of this is a 2TGEU will be significantly more reliable and less temperamental than an 18RC. But if it's what u wanna do, go for it!
