ok, excuse the ignorance coz i have always loved toyotas but only recently have i started extending my knowledge beyond "wow! there's a supra"

Do you think your typical suspension crowd are gonna know what spring suits a jzx81 better than an gx81? I am assuming you are telling me anything with an x8 chassis???

So if that is right then the king spring parts KTRL-77 & KTRL-76 which are lowered coils to suit an MX83 will work???

The last number in the model code denotes a "variation" is that right? Variation to what?

Does having TEMS change the spring design?

I am looking to replace just springs for now, and squash up the TEMS shocks till they die...

Replacing the coils with lowered coils (like Kings) is not the same as getting coilovers.

I'm not 100% if MX83 coils are the same diameter to GX81 coils.

The 1 or 3 in MX83/GX81 denotes a slight tweak.
It varies from car to car.
Some are suspension changes, some are chassis changes.

I'm presuming the difference in the X8 is due to the doors being frameless, and a slightly different rear window/boot.

yeah, should have known better than to say coilovers. Coil over what if im jus talking springs?

Anyway, if you think the variation is rear windscreen & pillar-less doors, then theorectically the abovementioned springs should fit?

Main concern is still whether TEMS fitted vehicles have different spring design.

Fairly sure GX83 coilovers can be found on yahoo japan. May well require ditching the TEMS though, that's soemthing you'll have to figure out.

TEMS should be fine, as far as I know they just use shocks with variable damping, the springs are fairly conventional. Of course, with coilovers, you're replacing the whole lot, so the TEMS has to go.
