Ok just got my new engine in after many probs along the way with the manual conversion. Got everything hooked up and the manual gear all in place. Put the finishing touches on her and hook the battery up and the fuel pump relay near the drivers side tems unit start buzzing and the dash all lights up and weird like. This is with the key turned off (nothin happens when i turn the key on). And then a electrical burning smell. I have traced all wiring back that i can think of. Even under the ignition side of the dash, ecu behind the glove box, main earth for dash in centre console, and around starter area and still can't find anything!! I have also pluged in the postioner for the auto. Any ideas of what it could be?

Sound very much like an earthing problem to me. Buzzing relays are usually a sign of the relay coil trying to ground through some other circuit, or some other circuit trying to ground through the relay. I know that probably doesn't help much but it's something you won't find with a test light.

what he said - your wiring is snafu - you've shorted something by accident or mised an important earth.
don't rely on colour codes - trace thru all the wiring changes you've made
it might be safer to unhook all the added stuff, then one-by-one enable each new bit and see what causes problems
If you have fuel pump active but no fuel delivery -then investigate whether pump is wired up right way and whether plumbing is correct (e.g. pump to fuel rail to regulator to tank return).

I've stop the smoking wiring problem. I've used the same abs sensor and wiring, and the speedo isn't hooked up. And the shifting locater from the auto is sitting aside in Park position (thats what lets the fuel pump engage). But the starter motor isn't engaging or nothing via key. I short it out on the starter itself and it engages so it's fine. Some wiring between the starter and ignition maybe?
