1g gte?

I have recently picked one of these motors up. We in the USA never had these imported in a dot approved vehicle. I'm just wondering how much potential these motors have. I am considering putting it into a AE86. I know the intake manifold is very restrictive and plan on making a new one. Plus a turbo upgrade. Just curious to see some people do with these motors and the potential. Thanks.

I just found these motors only made 210 bhp from the factory. My next question is what are some of the most common mods done to these motors? And what are the average gains (hp wise)achieved from these mods. You got me very interested now thanks for the reply.

fit a decent exhaust and up the boost to 14 PSI and you should get close to 150KW @ wheels...

As long as it's a Gen 3...
Around here, there's a 1G-GTE Celica that runs 10 second passes with supposedly stock internals...
If you look at the previous dyno days, you should see the sort of power some 1G-GTEs put out... No one has gone crazy with 1G-GTEs yet... Although I know of two that are currently in the works... One will sport bigger turbos and the other will be 2.4L....

Well the 1g in my ae86 has some serious balls, i've been driving it around for the last 6 months and i'm still trying to get use to it.
I've got a gen1 with gen 3 turbos. I have found that the gen1 turbos kick in around 1500 with the boost vey subtle, but the gen3 comes in at around 3500, the boost literally puts you back in your seat

Ok I made up my mind I'm going with an older supra/celica. My last two questions are will the 5mge tranny and clutch work with the 1ggte? And what kind of wiring problems arise? I do engine swaps for a living and this project is for my personal use. I just dont want to get half way through it and run into a ton of problems. Thanks.

1G-GTEs are bolted to W58s from the factory. Since you have a W58, you'll have no problems.
Just get the bellhousing.
