very odd ideling problem---gtfour Sat, 03 September 2005 22:48 Go to next message
hey all ive got a weird little problem thats got me a little confused....and it goes like this....cold starts..arent a problem...ideling when its cold is great also..the car is running awesome...but sometimes....sometimes after ive been driving for a while..and shes warm...and i pull up somewhere...kill her and let her sit for anywhere between 10 mins and an hour...then next time i start it...it will just REFUSE to idle full stop, it wont even TRY to idle at all...ill put the foot down on the gas a bit to keep it alive and it will be missing and coughing and spluttering and shit...then i drive 10-15 metres and it just clears up and runs fine...and this problem only occures say 10% of the time...the rest of the time she will start and idle fine...
has any1 got any ideas?

i always assumed the cold start injector only came on for cold starts?, anyway what would be the best way to test it?

It should only come on for cold starts hence if it stays on + teh problem.

Just reread msg, sorry I thought it was shitty when warm. You could try disconnecting it but with your expanded explanation I'm not sure if that would be the problem

what parts have you changed? its it completely stock?

you could have some slight intercooler leaks, check your pipes and hoses vacuum hoses, also your airflow meter.

give these all a clean, remove your panel filter tap it on the floor or use a pressure gun lightly, use degreaser on the flap of the afm.

im running a drift pod filter only 2 weeks old, apart from that,my boost controller, tvsv being disabled and running the full time i/c pump mod its completely stock. most of my vac lines have been replaced in the last few weeks, my pcv hoses have been replaced in the last few weeks, and i can say with 100% certainty that there are no boost/vac leaks, ill give my afm a clean today, but once again this problem only happens about 10% of the time...on warm starts, it will start and fire up then die straight away without trying to idle...sometimes it will idle for a second or 2 at like 200rpm then die...but thats only 10% of the time...the rest of the time it starts, idles and runs like a dream.
