ae86 aftermarket wheel and boss kit Sat, 28 December 2002 06:41 Go to next message
what boss kit and wheel are people using? currently i have an autotechnica wheel and an O.B.A boss kit but autotechnica dont seem to make wheels that arent ugly and the boss kit is a bit too short so that the wheel doesnt have much clearance from the blinker stalk. i was thinking a momo wheel but what do these things cost? i dont wanna pay an arm and a leg just for a wheel. so what wheel and boss kit does everyone use and roughly what did they cost you? also any pics would be great!
thanks, kevin.

I have an autotechnica wheel and boss kit (I think the wheel I got looks good, but I see your point). In the sprinter I have made up a spacer which is attached to the momo PCD in the boss kit.

However in hindsight I would have gone SAAS as they make a boss kit especially for the sprinter:

Hope this helps.

Good question dude, I have bought a MOMO Race for my AE86, and the boss is on order, apparently MOMO makes a boss kit for the Sprinter... not sure what number it is I will post when it comes in.... hope I don't have to make up a spacer for it!!

To be honest I am not sure if it will fit other wheels other than SAAS.

You just have to check the PCD and pattern. Of which there are two patterns. The momo one and the Autotechnica one, basically their the two standards.

As far as cost goes around the 80-100 mark is normal.

yeah what a pain. prob with momo boss kit is it only fits momo wheels... my other prob is i asked pep's about boss kits and they can order me a SAAS bosskit in for $85 but theres no way to see it before i buy it cause i think that saas MAY have a smaller diameter center circle in which the bolts mate up to the boss kit from when i saw it in the shops it was rather small. there is talk of an autotechnica boss kit aswell but i spose this would only work with autotechnica wheels... might have to find the wheel first THEN get the bosskit hehehe.

Yes indeed, buy the wheel first and then go looking for the boss kit. Iif Pep's don't know what they are talking about, deal with the manufacturer/distributor directly to get more details.

The cool thing about Autotechnica boss kits is that they usually come with the PCD for both Autotechnica and Momo on the one boss kit and you just rotate it to suit your wheel. Yyou will still have a boss kit length issue though leaving the indicator stalk to close to the wheel in the low-beam position.

Hope this helps.
