Hey guys/gals, Chuck Landwehr here, Sad to say I have sold my RA28, fully engineered with 1GGTE. But on the upside I now own a Quadcam V8 Soarer. I am still buiding/restoring TA 22's. almost finished a very good looking 1972 TA 22, one more week to go maybe.

See you round the traps,

Chuck

Gday Faulksy good luck on the KE30, I have not done a 1/4 mile time or 0-100 time on my engine now that it is turboed, I am hopeing for low 13s but it could be anything I will be going upto the drags in a few weeks so I will see then, + I have some more mods to do to the engine to get some more power before I hit the drags.

I run a 4AGZE engine with factory computer air flow meter,
a high flowed T28 I run 14.5 PSI I have also got bigger injectors I still have to fit + a bigger intercooler then hopfully I will be able to run about 20 PSI which should get me around 180 to 190KW @ the wheels, alot better than the factory super charger which I could only get 97KW @ the wheels I dont think you can get much more than that out of them. What have you done to your KE30 so far. Is it far off going.

Hey Garreth, here are some details on my car.

Mods: 4agze, Microtech MTX8, front mounted intercooler, 2 1/4 sports exhaust, mix of pedders and king springs suspension, Simmons 16inch FR's, Borg Warner 78series LSD diff, pintara rear discs, aftermarket air filter.

Performance: Power 100kw dyno (dnyo graph in Hot 4s) at the wheel, 0-100km/h - 6.3 sec, 0-400m 14.6sec@154.4km/h

Future mods: have so far a T3 turbo, bellhousing for Supra box.

Planning on having it fully engineered, upgrade front brakes, run approx 14psi (on the limits on the standard intercooler might have to consider upgrading it), get the air con working which i have already spend so much money on, have the microtech setup up for laptop tuning, custom intake manifold, upgrade exhaust to something decent. Just want a minimum of 165kw at the treads and then ttake it from there if whether I want more or not.

Hey guys, another Canberran TA22 Celica owner here. Just a few Q's. Firstly to Chuck Landwehr. Did the RA you owned have a very dodgy silver paint job and a huge front mounted 'cooler? I saww one cruising through Braddon and Civic a few weeks ago and i could tell it was a six but i wasn't sure what exactly. It sounded pretty tough.

And i was also wondering if i could also ring you Phil about the Celica club? I am very interested and would like to get some info on it. thanks André

i'm in the process of putting a 13B J-port in it. Apparently accoriding to Jamie with MRTA22, you cant put turbo rotaries (well 13B's and 20B's but their the only rotors id have) into TA22's. Nobody will engineer them unless i give my TA the 'Full-chassis' treatment. I was really annoyed cause i had my sights set on a 20B turbo. Well looks like i'll eventually be forking out for the whole chassis treatment then!

Cool!

I think you'd want the full chassis treatment for a 20B, do you remember that canberra gemini with the 20B turbo & auto gearbox? It apparently twisted the chassis under load, and broke the A & B pillars?!? thats seriously too much torque for a little car more accustomed to 50 or 60 kilowatts!

Which Corolla is that? I saw the Hecticust (yes i made that word up) Corolla about a year ago when Braddon was still good. It was a white one but after the KE38's i have no idea what Corolla is what, but it was the same style as That Gold one that was in Fast fours with NOZ (the plates were something 20V). It looked stock except for the huge front mount' and when he gave it it RIPPED!!! It would have been the fastest Corolla i have ever seen. (besides that PAC KE20). After he did a "driveby" where he was going about 60K's and then just broke into wheelspin for about 50metres, his tyres were warm and he came back and launched it to what i reckon would have ended up as at least a mid to low 13. But the best bit was the sound. It sounded so crazy when he shut the throttle that we ran after it! If any of you have seen Mick O'Rouke's 1200 Ute (bubble gum green, FJ20, mini tubbed) it sounded like his ute did back at the end of 2000. I had never heard anything like that again until this corolla then i only saw that once and that was it. It was like a mixture of reverted boost pressure getting chopped up by the compressor wheel and echoing through the huge intercooler (due to no BOV) and also the fact that Mick's External wastegate used to dump into the atmosphere. It was like "Kosh kosh koshhhhooot zoot zooot" If you know what i mean... No No No

Actually my other friend's VR4 powered Cordia (Rigoli built
[YEP-18U] used to be [NVBOOM])sounds pretty good. We have semi-blocked the vacume/boost pipe that goes to the top of the blow off valve so that it only works when you first back off to get rid of the high pressured stuff, then it closes prematurely and the compressor wheel chops up the rest. Something like "CHSHHHHHHZOOOOT TOOOOO TOOO Tooo tooo! hehehe Nod

Hey Garreth,

I look foward to seeing it in Zoom!! I really like what you've done with the car. I'd never seen it around canberra before until like a month ago and me and my brother were in aww!! I drive a AE82 Twincam. I've only done little things like a cold air feed and replaced the standard air filter. In a month or so i'm getting whiteline suspension overhaul and hopefully i can get out and do some hill climbs and stuff. Did you build your car up yourself? What kinda times has your car run?

Hi Rogan
Once I get my car going again I am sure I will see you around.Do you go out to Braddon much as I might see you out there. I did build this car up my self with alot or help from friends.I have only done one run on the strip and it was not a good run as I was only using it to get the hang of it as I have never been on a drag strip before I still got a 13.6 with a very slow start. My second run was ment to be a good one as I cranked the boost up to 19PSI and filled it with AVGAS unfortunately I snapped an axle on the line and that was the end of the night for me. It should get high 12s next time I head up.

You wouldn't be able to send me some pics of your rolla would you? I'd like to see it. Jeez thats a good run for the first time on the track! Ohh by the way, are you suuuuuuure you want to put a commodore LSD in it? I have had nothing but bad experiences with those LSD's (VT and newer). My Dad's work (TISC at the sutton road driver training centre) cars are all new SS commodores and they are frequently strapped around the track. the first blue VT SS they had went through 5!!! diffs, the white VT S2 went through 3 and one of the new VX's has already had two. It seems as though the LSD centre is just not up to the job of putting down that much power in a car so big. In every case, the diff itself has held up, no probs there, but the LSD has just lost all it's bite and they all just went sloppy and were acting like open diffs. Coming out of corners they would just light up the inside wheel all the time. Now i don't know if one will hold up in a little Corolla, i'd say it probably would, but there are so many options out there that maybe you should consider looking around a bit longer. The teeth themselves are very strong, no questions there, just the LSD centres aren't too good. The only car i've ever seen whose snapped one of those diffs is the red BMW of Bill Sheappard [YLD-20B]. Of course, judging by the number plate you can see why it broke, but that thing is far from a stock power output, so i doubt you'll have problems in that aspect. Anyway, look forward to the pics.

My friend is Michael. He used to work there, oh would have been almost a year ago. He drove a old immaco, white celica. RA something, sorry i'm not too good with my celica models... It was modified pretty hard, sounded good but didn't go all that good. He used to talk about your car as he liked the 4agze.

Phil,
Yeah i sold the orange '28. Small world man! What happend to the '28? is it still around, i have never seen it since i sold it to you, but my mates used to see it occasionally.

I do have a spare 1G Alternator, but it seems to have a problem with charging, and i dont know what it is.

hehehe
dyl,
yeah it is a small world, the 28 is around i sold it to some kid, who fell in love with it and i found a 23 with a ze for 1000 so i got it and swaped the ze 4 a 1gge and chucked it in, its almost done, i only need a few more things, if i could get that altornator off you to see whats wrong and if its fixable ill give you a bitta cash, it may not even fit. the pully width might be to thick. if that is ok then id like to do that im desprate for one. as for the 28 i went 2 brad a couple of times but mainly staid south though.
give me a call, 0421590380, or 62929224, and leave your number and ill call back if im at work.
thanks for the reply.
phil

Ahh cool! So the old '28 is still around ACT somewhere?

Phil, My Auto Elec mate is actually gonna take the alternator 2day, and tell me what he finds wrong with it. If its not major his gonna fix it, and then i'll sell it in working order.

Its exactly the same and it will fit yours, because i swapped the one from my 1GGE to my 1GGTE and they are identical.

I'll keep you informed.

it looks very nice. alot of time and effort. makes mine look like ratshit. that will be my next project if not try and get one done, but then you dont know whats been done to it.
as for the altornator, thats good news, i hope he can fix it. then all i have to do is the the exhaust, radiator and put it all together. and those little things like hoses, oil and shit.
if my scanner was working id show you my asmost done one(not sprayed engine bay) it needs a once over coat though from bonnet marks and stone chips. but apart from that i got a supra 5 speed. lambo replica 15's daiken performance clutch and pressureplate. and koni' on the rear, with a sway bar, plus i chucked a vent in the bonnet. so apart from the interior its pretty nice.
so as for the altornator let me know and if it is fixed save it for me( not that many other people around would be after one in canberra)
cheers
