Hey all,.. I just brought a celica for 600 bucks! no rust, engine is good, just a bit hard to start in the morning. I think it just need a service, change spark plug, fuel filter...etc.
anyway.. since I have no experince on toyota,.. and carby cars.. I need some advice. what kind of mod can I do...? something for performance and also won't cost too much! I've seen ppl put twin carby on it. how much will that cost? is it hard to do? or just direct fit? anything else that won't cost too much to mod???

For a start, when you drive it around, take it easy (don't fang it too much), check how much oil/water/fluids it's using. Check this constantly. Keep records of the petrol you put in, so you can check if your guages work properly

Then once your sure its not going to blow up...then you have competitions with yourself trying to save money by using the least amount of fuel. Put all the savings aside and get a better engine!
But seriously, do the usual things, like change the oil, the plus and stuff. If you want, run it on 98RON fuel and wind some more ignition advance into it.

electronic ignition would be the first thing i would fit to a stock RA40 if you grab all the bits from an RA60 the guts of the dizzy swaps over and the rest should just bolt up! a good exahust is a start the earlyer non polution manifolds with the twin outlet are better then the celica single exit item but it then is technicly unroadworthy as your losen the EGR system and the later model carby
but for starters go for electronic ignition and make shure the cold air flap in the aircleaner is working with a good tune it should go much better
Welcome to the *A4* Series family, a good choice
