Hey All.

My neighbour has killed her car and I am taking it off her hands.
I have an 86 SX model however hers is an 88 ST. I Know the engines are different and lack of power stuff etc etc.

Are the power steering interchangable? Alternator and stuff? What about engine bolt on pieces? Alternator etc?

Will the gearbox slot right in? I am sure the interior will fit in. so looks like Ive got a parts car when I need it. Kick ass.

I'll take what I need and when I done, I'll part the rest out.

Cheers all
-Shaun

Probably as they are the same chassis.

Unlikely, I think the Exhaust Manifold is the same and thats about it.

Yep, but I think the Starter motor is different, so NO.

All steering / suspension / chassis components are the same between the ST and SX. The interiors are different - the ST has a tacky vinyl trim where the SX has carpet.

The engines are different, but you could use the alternator, radiator, mounts, brackets, pumps, compressors etc. Guys doing engine conversions always want the front-mounted ST thermofans, so hang onto them! Pretty sure the exhaust manifolds are different.

You can use the ST's gearbox in your car, but you'll probably need to use the 3SFE flywheel too (which is probably heavier = bad). I'm pretty sure the starter motors are interchangable with a bit of fiddling.

Cool. Thanks.

I think my sx headers have a hole in em. I thought the 3SFE ones were diff to the GE's.

Might just do some major parting out. Cheers on the tip bout the fans.

Thats cool.

I just read your sig - if your car has a 2nd Gen 3SGE in it then you'd have no dramas running the 3SFE gearbox as gen 2 onwards came standard with the starter on the flywheel side. If you're running the gen 1 gearbox you'll have to find a gen 2 flywheel and she'll be sweet.

you can use the ST gearbox without using the flywheel. all you have to do is use the SX starter notor that mounts under the exhaust manifold.

I stand corrected. Smile would you need to drill and tap holes for it tho? I've never really looked at it.
