After many years of faithful service, it's time to say goodbye to the trusty road barge Laughing
I'm looking to either sell the whole car to someone who wants an mx73 parts car with all options (all working) or possibly part it out if the interest matches what I'm after.
Don't get me wrong, the car still drives fine and is registered (and easily re-registerable), but the gearbox is starting to feel sloshy and I really couldn't be arsed getting a roadworthy

Mechanical
- Engine is bullet proof. Car has NEVER been thrashed. This has been my daily driver since '01.
- approx 280,000km's on the clock (will check actual reading if anyone's interested). Motor was replaced just before I bought the car... have long since lost that receipt Confused
- Have rebuilt gearbox (soon after getting car), replaced diff, replaced tailshaft with VN/Cressida hybrid (now it has replacable uni's Very Happy)
- 4 new brake rotors w/receipt. (< 3000km)
- Great pulling power, will do 110km/h @ 2,500rpm

Exterior
- White paint, small ding in boot and peeling paint on rear left panel
- standard 15" alloys (5), tyres @ 70%

Interior
- Maroon throughout. Front passenger's seat faded, rest of the seats are good.
- Fully functional electric windows & two-way sunroof. All window and roof switches have been replaced or reconditioned -- spares are hard to come by or are $$$ (wait 'till your sunroof motor dies Wink)
- Lid broken off centre console. (still have lid and broken hinge)

More details or photos if people are interested.
Price is $600, but you have to come pick it up from Brisbane. If you're a semi-long term forum member and you're interstate I'll let you borrow the plates and mail them back to me when you get home.

Considering the 4 new discs cost more than $600, I think that's a pretty good deal Shocked

Pics please
As many as you want, I've got 20meg to play with.
And I'm in Perth.

CrUZsida: I'm getting my mate's digicam tomorrow morning for pics (unless you want dodgy phone pics now? Laughing )
Space isn't a problem, I have over 1GB to play with. Thanks for your offer though Smile

...Perth? eeek. Confused
You could drive it back, but if it was me I'd get the g/box looked at first (feels like the torque converter is on its way out. I'd drive it to Sydney no dramas, but I'm not so sure about Perth).
That said, you're exactly the sort of person I'm hoping will buy this car -- while the body of the car is nothing great to look at, I've always put the extra effort in as far as keeping it mechanically maintained... and I've bought far too many $$$ genuine Toyota parts in the process Mad. This car would make the ultimate parts car for an mx73 owner Cool

I'm being totally honest about the condition of the car because this is toymods, damnit! No marketing bullsh!te 'round here. Very Happy Wink

vip3r: good question... ripping the seats out is a last resort, so I'll give it till next weekend before quoting on individual parts.
Thinking about pulling those seats out reminds me of the 4 hours I spent searching wrecking yards for a cressida driver's seat with an undamaged (technical term, avert your eyes!) 'seat back cog thingy' ... the only one I found had stuffed cushions so I ended up cutting the part off the old seat with an angle grinder, welding it to my driver's seat and restitching the seat covering. Shocked
Don't worry though, that was years ago and the repair is still seemless Cool

h3ff44: Yep, Greenslopes. I'll be home most of the weekend if you want to have a look. [edit: just noticed you're in melbourne!]

I just got home to discover the front right tyre is semi-deflated Neutral
I'll tub-test it tomorrow and get it repaired if it's punctured.

...took some quick photos with my phone as the last light of day disappeared... left my bluetooth usb at work, so I have to setup the PDA and transfer them individually via infrared Sad This is gonna suck... will post with links when they're up and will take real photos in the morning Smile

most. smileys. ever. Rolling Eyes

Here's the dodgy phone pics:
http://stuff.mindlesslemming.com/cressida/front.jpg
slightly larger exhaust tip is the only visable mod.
http://stuff.mindlesslemming.com/cressida/back.jpg
fading looks worse due to phone's "auto-correction", which can't be disabled Mad
http://stuff.mindlesslemming.com/cressida/seat.jpg

Pioneer 4x45watt CD, 2 Clarion dual 6" speakers in the back (parcel shelf unaltered), Clarion 4" speakers in place of original 4" front speakers (same places, entire dash had to be removed to install without cutting any plastic! Surprised )
http://stuff.mindlesslemming.com/cressida/stereo.jpg

remaining tread... probably closer to 50%-60% on closer inspection... I only want $600 for the whole car and I know I could get more than that for the window switches, roof motor, stereo and rotors... let's not get picky Wink
http://stuff.mindlesslemming.com/cressida/tyre.jpg

panel damage: this shot plus a small rust hole inside the boot. will photograph that damage today
http://stuff.mindlesslemming.com/cressida/boot.jpg

..and here's the only reason I'm letting go of the cressida (2.5L manual w/AWD goodness Nod )
http://stuff.mindlesslemming.com/cressida/suby.jpg

what do you want me to photograph with the good camera? Smile

Wow, its like the twin sister of my car, but with a sunroof!
Well, before I modded mine...

I'm guessing its an '86 ?
Chassis number around MX73-0094xxx ?

Detailed pics of, umm, hmmm, outside panels (either side, ends, roof), one of engine bay, one of backseat/dash/frontseat, one of the sunroof switches would be good!
Just to gauge overall condition really.

If I can find somewhere to store it in QLD for 3months I'll buy it.

Good guess Wink I'll check the exact number, but 0094 sounds right.

Will get those pics today and will make sure to upload them before I go out tonight! (unlike last night Razz )

That could work... I'm pretty keen to work out what's happening with it as each day I leave it registered means less refund.
I'll give you a chance to make some enquireries before doing anything rash though Smile

Warning: Car is filthy. Rolling Eyes
Due to water restrictions I can't wash it until 7pm tomorrow night. Grr. Any black marks are just grime and shit, nothing permanent.

All images link to larger versions (previews for the 56K'ers)

engine bay pic is hi res (2000+px wide) so you can see detail. Tape on intake is due to small crack in plastic... this was going to be fixed when I did the new timing belt and front seals (I already have the new belt and seals, those come with the car)

this is the worst exterior panel. the previous owner reversed into something and did a really bad job spraying this panel. meh.
http://stuff.mindlesslemming.com/cressida/hi_res/t_rear_qtr.jpg
can see semi deflated front tyre in this shot:
http://stuff.mindlesslemming.com/cressida/hi_res/t_right.jpg
minor bubbles at front and back of sunroof, any other marks are just dirt.
http://stuff.mindlesslemming.com/cressida/hi_res/t_roof.jpg
..and this is the very worst part of the car. (at least im honest Smile)
http://stuff.mindlesslemming.com/cressida/hi_res/t_rust.jpg
sunroof switch, as requested.

Is that cruise control I spy too??
This car is so sold.

DAMMIT, I better find a place to store it.
Imagine it jet black, with a V8 (Toyota of course).
Muahahaha.

Still waiting for some QLD contacts to come online.

Damn, you've got good eyes... where did you spot that?!
It's all there, but i think the switch is fried -- I drove to newcastle the first month I had it and it worked then but failed soon after and I've never looked into it. It still turns on, it just doesn't set the desired speed. Should be fixable though Smile

jet black?? wow, that'd be such an old skool yakuza cruiser Cool
You do that and I'm flying over to perth to come for a spin!

Worst case scenario, if you give me 1/3 deposit I'll deregister it and put it under my house. My housemates and I really need the space for other things, but I'd rather see the old girl go to a toymodder than the wreckers! Wink

Out of interest, why would you rather use my shell than yours? [edit: because mine has a sunroof..stupid me!!]Good to hear you want to respray though; as I've alreday stated the rear had a less than perfect repair before I got it.
I don't have the digicam any more, but if you want any close ups of any particular spots just let me know and I'll sort it out.

looking back at the photos; I am going to miss that lush interior... always impressed the ladies Laughing lol

Should do. It ran out of gas about 12-18 months ago, but before that it cranked Very Happy One prob though -- air con caused serious temp increases if car wasn't moving...
Then again, you're both talking about bigger engines (+ bigger radiators), so I can't imagine that would be a problem anymore.

Other than the aircon, I don't remember EVER seeing the temp gauge budge past healthy operating temperature. That's one of the things I love about the 5m-ge Very Happy

1/3 deposit ey?
Sounds good.
Leave it registered for the time being, I'm working out something with my peeps.

How long is left on the registration?

Shoot me a PM with some banks details and I'll transfer $200 over for you.
