information would be great Fri, 09 September 2005 06:35 Go to next message
hi all, i am currently in the process of building up a 4a-gte and i am trying to decide what car to put the engine into, i was thinking about a ke25 coupe or maybe a ra28 celica but im not sure if anyone has done this sort of conversion before. if anyone has any tips or links to a page that could help that would be great. do the 4a engine go straight in to these 2 cars of do you need big custom jobs?
thanx
stretch.

the 4a-gte you're building will be easiest to install in any ae** series car (ae80/ae82/ae86/ae92/etc).
If you look at the Articles section in this site the toyota engine and body codes are explained. There's also an egine swap guide there too
That's not to say you shouldn't install it in an older corolla or celica as a few members of this site have done, do some serches in the members rides section

Bigworm's RA23 is the old celica in mention.

IMHO - the easiest, most budget, and most easily modifyable Toyota of choice for a 4A-GTE would BY FAR have to be the AE71.

Anything that works on an AE86, works on one of these. My povo $3k turbo conversion yeilded me a nifty 14.114 second qtr mile, and bodies and parts are more than plentiful and worth NOTHING.

Cant look past it.

What do u like best. id say the celica is the heavier of the 2,but there is more room 2 play , ke 25 would prob go better ,less weight but less room 2 fit everythng . it seems with cars a lot of the time, u cant have your cake an eat it

i will probably end up chuckn it in a ae86 as there is a few in sydney that are for sale. is it just a straight swap with my 4a-gte and all i gota change is the computer to a after market one as i am running a turbo. that will be pretty much it ay?
