What codecs for media player are people using?

Well if you running anything special you would of had to install it!

It should also be known that i'm using media player 6.4! And no I will not "downgrade" to version 7 or whatever comes after it!

codec wise - just download the latest divx players - they cover most streams - XP's media player is a " hogware " i believe - correcvt me if im wrong - as it overrides any other player or some other crap like that ..

i run media player 7 with latest dvix and have problems only playing realplayer files ( ainly cause i loathe that programs system spying )

Yeah, get the DivX codecs.

Realplayer and Quicktime sux0rz. I hate using them.

If you're on Linux, xine is awesome. Plays just about anything.

You can try using the VidAmp plugin for WinAmp. It works pretty well. If you don't have the required codec installed, it tells you the name of the codec, so all you have to do is a simple web search for the codec and install it.

It's been useful to me numerous times.

Cool1, I just copied the plugin file to the \WinAmp\Plugins directory, and it worked for me.

There should be a readme.txt with the plugin that covers installation/setup of the plugin.

I use WinAmp 2.81 if that's any help. I don't know if the plugin works with WinAmp 3.
