OK I have finaly got my self a 1G-GTE, it has no fly wheel. It is in a wreck and some #@%&* got to it to do a conversion to manual befor I found it.
Any way the engine seems to be good so I put a deposit on it today and want to find out if there is any light weight flywheels out there for them?
I will be trying to suck a fair bit of power out of this so using my 3T flywheel might not be big enough.
If not I will post in the WTB for a stock one.

what i've found as far as any off the shelf aftermarket parts go.. they're as rare as rocking horse shit... i know of about 2 mods... kirks Mines ECU, and a ?HKS? twin charge (or just supercharger) kit,
other then that there's the custom made manifolds etc...
i think you'd be best off sending your flywheel to a engineering workshop and getting it machined off...

what do you mean not big enough??? you mean clutch size??
all you need to do is get get a new one made up to fit the clutch size you want. easy.
or go for aftermarket one like TODA or JUN or HKS or or or.. any of them...

I'm pretty sure you can get aluminium flywheels made up for 1g's without too much bother, just gotta ask a few clutch places (not automotive shops, actual clutch experts).

an aluminium flywheel???? wouldn't that be a bit of an overkill? no weight at all, the thing would idle as rough as guts... surely?

Alloy fly wheel? This could be the go, The OneGee Idle way to smooth anyway, I wouldn't mind a bit of rocking n rolling.
Could be the go.
Got a stock one from a wrecker, got riped off a bit cos he wanted to leave it with the motor, but money talks and that flywheel walked, got the stock clutch with it to thats almost new.
Has anyone ever had an aloy fly wheel made befor, or know what they cost?

The stock flywheel seems to suffice for most people - i'd suggest concentrating on purchasing a suitable performance clutch and pressure plate.
also - an aluminium flywheel isn't going to make the 1G idle rougher - an aftermarket ECU, a larger single turbo and larger injectors will.
cheers,
Charles.
