People have in the past done the old 5mgze.

Its a bit of a nightmare.
Much better off bolting on 7MGTE manifold and turbo.

If you have a 5me, I wouldn't even consider it.

A twin-cam head and an engine in general which isn't as choked (relatively speaking) by oodles of emissions gear and an antiquated ECU.

The only thing I would contemplate doing with a 5ME would be removing it and replacing it with something else. They aren't a performance engine.

Either a 1JZ or 2JZ if you like bang for your buck in terms of uber grunt, or 1UZ if you want NA V8 powah! There are lots of other engines, but these are probably the best suited to a car like an MX73.
