Engineer says I need to fit an unleaded filler neck to my TE72 corolla (T18) now that it has a 4AGZE.
Where the hell do I get a filler neck? Should one from a later unleaded toyota fit??
Thanks in advance
Phil

I managed to do mine fairly easily, if what a bit bodgy.
I cut out a 4-5cm section of filler neck that has the flap in it out of a later model celica, and shoved this into the middle of a 10-12cm section of that really fat filler neck rubber hose.
Then I chopped out a section of my filler neck, approx 4-5cm (obviously nice & close to the filler cap), and shoved the rubber hose with the flap in it so the section of flap replaced the bit I cut out, & the rubber hose becomes a sleeve over the joins. A couple of big hose clamps either end, and if you use old hose & clamps only a celica nut would pick it as being different to standard.
Does anyone understand that?
The best way would be to remove the neck completely from the car & have a flap welded in, but hey, I didn't have a welder at the time.

Do you actually have to have the flap, or is the engineering requirement just to have a filler that is smaller in diameter to prevent you from putting the leaded fuel pump in?

Just get one from another car that looks like it will fit, I got one from a magna (the first body shape) this fit almost perfectally in my RA28, when cut to lengththat is, remember to get the screw-on cap as well though, I had to go back to steal one!!

You can get filler restrictors that can be shoved into a normal sized filler neck that are used when compliancing imports. They're rough as guts, but keep the white coats happy. Another thing to remember - you can't actually buy leaded petrol in Australia any more... oh well, guess they missed that one
