175? 190?
A nearby mechanic told me it should be near 150? but then, you can never trust mechanics.

I have gen 3 pistons in mine which are lower compression than the gen 2 so the gen 2 will be higher than my 175 psi .

Don't worry too much about the absolute numbers unless they are really low.
Just warm it up, remove the efi fuse, hold the throttle wide open and do you test. Then if the results are all close it should be all good. The BGB quotes a variation of 15psi maximum. When I tested mine it was closer to 70 psi difference between number 3 and all the rest, that's not such a good result
The absolute number you get will be influenced by battery charge, starter condition, obstruction on the intake and exhaust tracts.

See the question stems from a starting problem.
The car sometimes takes a bit of effort to start, but then sometimes it is perfect, it doesn't seem to be directly related to warm or cold starts and that's the compression I'm getting.
What else could this be?

Good idea mate, but unfortunately, my backyard expertise doesn't extend that far. I'll be taking it in to my mechanic tomorrow.
At the very least, I know it's not compression, so that's one thing.
