Hey ppl,
aquired a cleaned up pair of 88kw 4age cams ready for my 101ZE, but before we put them in, ive heard you need to switch 1 pair of buckets / shims.

Which ones do i change?
Ive heard that its just 2, but ive also heard its different for different ZE's...goddamnit

Ive never done this stuff before so any good advice on the subject would be greatly appreciated
Surprised

if you have access to the shims the ge cams came from get them (inlet and exhaust, 1-8 should be marked and put back in the same positions).
basicaly you will need to check your shim clearances (inlet and exhaust) once you put the ge cams in. if your lucky the clearances 'might' be with in spec with the shims you have in your current head, if not it's handy to have a few spare to get the correct ones needed to be with in spec.

i have links somewhere here that shows what shim thickness to use with what clearance. let me know if you need them and i'll look for them.

ok shim info would be sick, i should be able to get my hands on some feeler guage thingies.

All the shims / buckets fell out of the blue top head that my cams came out of but if you say they are numbered, possibly i can still use them.
However they are full of gunk so it would make more sense to use my ze shims if possible.

Cheers

i'll try to find the link tomorow night if i have time, trying to get the feral looking respectable for the Jamboree on the w/end.(and it's taking it's time.. Rolling Eyes )
though if your lucky someone may jump in and post a pic/link before i get to it. Smile
a feeler guage is needed for sure, and there is a specific procedure to follow when checking the valve clearances.
(i would have to scan that bit from my manual).

you would only need the shims. no they are not already numbered, what i mean is you need to do that before you let them fall out of the head.... Razz
